At the NRCC (National Rail Communications Centre), I am one out of the three members of the (Planned) VDM team working to create clear, informative videos about planned disruptions on the railway, affecting train journeys across the UK.
My job covers the majority of the production processes.
This includes myself presenting in each of the videos I create (as seen in the still image attached), editing raw footage, creating and animating maps of the affected areas, and publishing said videos to the associated pages found on the National Rail website, and across social media platforms (Twitter/X, Vimeo etc).
Our videos are also displayed on vertical screens found at relevant stations and platforms across the UK.
Since the very beginning of this project (2024), we as a team have developed and improved upon its initial concept - creating over 200 videos (as of June 2025), exceeding 3 million impressions and over 500k views across all platforms.
This is surprisingly the first time anything like this has been done in the rail industry -
- and I am more than happy to be a part of it!
Recent planned disruption videos can be found here.
I was a freelance animator for an organisation - promoting their online course through an animated video. This consisted of concept art, character designs and frame-by-frame animation, with frequent conversations between myself and my employer about the project.
